| The
Message
Any area which
is a focal point for musical culture will experience
the usual flux of ideas, musicians, groups and collectives.
So it is with Geelong, and nothing exemplifies that
better than The Message. The members have arrived at
their current form after a history which involves numerous
other bands and contributors.
Dynamic and melodic, the Message
create music that has been likened to the Fleadh Ceol
meets Thin Lizzy, melding traditional Irish tunes and
songs into an upbeat rock format.
Formed around Shanks Mare a Geelong
duo which had it's roots firmly sown in the Dublin rock
scene and the Australian folk scene, the Message play
an irresistable blend of Irish upbeat dance music that
will get anyone off their seats.
The band has performed in Southeast
Asia and the Middle East, performing in Oman and Brunei
to enthusiastic responses and critical acclaim. They
also perform regularly interstate and have developed
sound followings wherever they play.
The Message consists of Sean
Nash on vocals and guitars, Bob Connor on vocals, guitars
and mandolins, Rick McInnis on bass, Rob Doole on violin
and Bradley Dawson on smiles and drums.
The Message creates music that
is fresh, exciting and energetic.
Anyone who has seen the band perform will realise that
they love what they do.
